From Signature Models, a 1:18 scale diecast model of a 1917 Reo Touring vehicle.

The model has a removable blacktop. The REO Motor Car Company was based in Lansing, Michigan, and began by Ranson E. Olds during August of 1904. REO also produced noteworthy trucks. The most memorable of REO vehicles were the 1927 Reo Flying Cloud and the 1931 Reo Royale 8.

In REO's early history, Olds claimed he had built the best touring vehicle with room to seat five with a 35hp engine and 112-inch wheelbase costing around $1,000, extra for a self-start. By the 1920s the REO, like several other brands of the day, were setting endurance and distance records.

The most notable of these events was the Trans-Canada journey of 1912, traveling over 4,700 miles through Canada where roads were mostly nonexistent. In 1936, REO dropped passenger vehicles to focus on trucks.
